Saffron Urban Kitchen
LOCATION:
Omaha, Nebraska
DESCRIPTION:
The 4,500 SF space is inserted into an existing shell in bustling Aksarben. The concept is framed on street markets with the kitchen opening up to the dining area for performative food prep and engagement. Dining areas open up as streets and more semi-private modules support tastings and events. Our team designed and fabricated all the millwork from raw plywood and re-purposed materials by hand on site. Items include the wood bench and host stand, bar, the wine rack and the window wall which was made with re-purposed windows from two house demolitions. Existing lighting in the space was detached, cleaned and re-finished on site to defer high lighting costs. The muted blue colors were selected to convey reductive qualities while the muted yellows convey additive masses introduced to the space
